Women are the backbone of the rural economy, especially in the developing world. Yet they receive only a fraction of the land, credit, inputs (such as improved seeds and fertilizers), agricultural training and information compared to men.

Empowering and investing in rural women has been shown to significantly increase productivity, reduce hunger and malnutrition and improve…

Hi Roel,

Good to meet you. Pls. see the following answers

1.Michael Comms is one of friends in the international organic agriculture network. As I mentioned he’s working with Green net and Earth net foundations in Thailand. We’ve been conducted rice chain programs together. May be you know Vitoon Punyakal who’s in the IFOAM accreditation world board, also works with Green net foundation.

2.Still I don’t know about your community and the use of me. But as I directly working with extremely poor farmer communities it'll be very valuable to get more understanding on gender aspects. Though I already have little knowledge about it, keen to understand others perspectives. Since gender it self has different definitions this sort of interaction would be useful.

Best,

Varuna

Hoi Roel,

Groet

Angelica

Thanks- I am actually new to this area: Am looking for examples of interventions and programmes that have relaxed the constraints women cash crop farmers face in the market. Any pointer/reference would be much appreciated.

best, Marcella

Hoi Roel,

Angelica
